My two favorite dishes are the quinoa porridge and the veggie benedict. We tried to make the quinoa porridge, but failed miserably. My wife and I would love it if you would share the recipe with us. We can’t wait till our next visit to you restaurant.
Green Eggs had won an award in PW last year for this dish. I have copied the article for you and pasted it below. I hope this helps
Thanks for your patronage.
{Best Use Of Dinner Food As Breakfast}
{Batty old nonnas might decry what Green Eggs Café has done to parking in their Passyunk ’hood, but the new eco-friendly bruncherie has transformed a half-abandoned, dust-caked antiques operation (and a neighborhood eyesore) with café windows, slate floors and a fireplace. That’s one reason to dig it. Another is the quinoa porridge, which is sort of like oatmeal on steroids. Chef Albert Alvarado boils the protein-packed Incan supergrain like pasta, strain then simmers 1 cup in a pan with 1-3oz of heavy cream, 2 tbs of agave nectar, 1 tsp of cardamom and 1 tsp of cinnamon. The results, served up in a cute coffee mug topped with four-berry compote and fresh berries and mint, are so delicious you won’t believe it’s good for you.}

Best eggs benedict in PA! The people there are super friendly and can’t wait to go back to eat the rest of the menu. Love it!
It’s really impressive how consistently good this place is. Everytime I come here with my girlfriend, the food and service are just spot-on. Friendly servers and flavorful, well-cooked dishes. Even if you frequent this place as much as I do, the specials change often enough so that you never have to order the same thing twice. I’m a sucker for french toast, and whenever I walk in, I can be sure that they’ve put a new, whimsical and tasty spin on the classic dish. Some of my favorites include the cheesy grits with those perfectly crispy bits of scrapple, or the kitchen sink, which is bound to satisfy even the most discerning brunch connoisseur. Hell, even the vegetarian dishes are good. This place is living proof of how simple, fresh ingredients used right can make a menu shine. If you’re looking for a delicious meal at a ridiculously affordable price, look no further than the Green Eggs Cafe. Seriously, I love you guys.
I have to say that coming from the NE is so worth it. The food is exceptional. My favorite server is Jen. Cash only is not a problem since they have an ATM that charges only 99 cents. The only thing that is a negative is being charged $10.00 for two large juices. It was a third of our bill. That was a bit much. Maybe it was an oversight?
My wife and I have been to brunch at your South Philly location the past 3 weeks and we love you guys. I thought The Kitchen Sink was fantastic but everything we’ve had has been good. I have two complaints–I know you can’t control wait times but we were told 45 minutes and it wound up being 80 minutes. If you can’t take reservations you have to try to be a little closer on the wait estimate so folks have an idea of what they are getting into. Secondly, we have ordered the burger twice, both times medium rare, and it has come out almost well done both times, even though the second time I said, “Last time it was well done, please, I really like when there is a lot of pink!” It’s ashame bc/ the burger ingredients are top notch and the fries are killer, too. These are minor issues–I plan to come here every week for the rest of my life in South Philly–but I thought you should know.
Thanks,
Greg
I heard about how great the stuffed french toast was at the Green Eggs Cafe. I figured that I would try some of the other items that were on the menu as well. The Crème brulee French toast and Apple strudel French toast was fantastic !!! The best that I ever have had. I like that each week there are new items that you can try. I will definetely revisit the cafe and try some of the other items that are listed on the menu.
My husband and I visited your Northern Liberties location this morning for the first time. Yum! The scrambled eggs were some of the most delicious I’ve ever tasted, and everything else complimented them really well. My husband loved the veggie florentine and said the coffee was excellent. We will definitely be back–you are a great addition to the neighborhood, and we were pleased at how vegetarian-friendly the menu is.
My boyfriend and I have eaten at the South Philly location nearly every weekend for a year and a half now. You might recognize us as the 2 people who always get the Tofu Scramble, one rosemary potato, one signature. My favorite part is the amazing soy sausage on the side. However, we recently discovered, when one of the waitresses finally notified us, that the Tofu Scramble and the potatoes both contain butter. This is an enormous shock to both of us, as it is so simple to make this dish vegan. In addition, it seems very unlikely someone would order this dish unless they WERE vegan. I love the Green Eggs eco-conscious philosophy, and veganism is not only an ethical decision, but a sustainable one, eliminating the need for animal products.
I would like to see this dish be made vegan, in addition to more vegan options on the menu. A few months back I had a vegan french toast special that was absolutely amazing. There is an excellent and healthy fake butter product called Earth Balance and if you use this instead of butter on your Ultimate Tofu Scramble, you can mark this item “Vegan” on your menu and reassure those with this lifestyle that you are providing for them, as well. Several other breakfast restaurants in the neighborhood are using it, and it would be nice to have a vegan spread for our toast, as well.
If this is a step Green Eggs will not take, I would like to see the menu specify that this dish contains butter. At this point, it seems likely that other vegans have ordered this item without the knowledge that they are supporting the animal industry, because they would ever expect to find real dairy in this dish. Many other restaurants in the South Philly and Northern Liberties neighborhoods are catering to the vegan population by providing and specifying vegan options on their menu, and I really hope Green Eggs will make this change.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter, and thank you for all the tasty starts to our weekends.
I love Green Eggs!
You guys have the tastiest tofu scramble and soy sausage. My boyfriend and I found out recently that you use real butter in the scramble, which was upsetting to hear as we are vegan. So I wrote a note to you requesting change. Next time we went back, maybe a week later, the menu had changed. Now it features a symbol specifying vegan options and includes a new item, Vegan French Toast. This is very exciting to me and we feel very appreciative that you took our letters seriously and helped us to implement change for the better. Thank you.
Food is AMAZING! But my bestfriends and I are certain we commit sins of gluttony! So far I’ve tried the BLT with turkey bacon-Awesome, the red velvet pancakes-Awesome, the Creme brûlée French toast-Awesome, the Peanut butter cup French toast-Awesome, the peanut butter crunchy French toast- Awesome, and Turkey Bacon-Awesome! Of course I’ve tried all these while sharing with multiple people & during multiple visits. I’d love to upload my pics!
Made my first trip to your wonderful restaurant (Dickinson location) and was very impressed and appreciative of the wheelchair accessibility. A ramp that was done right, both functionally and aesthetically. Kudos. The food was great too. Will definitely be back.
I went last Sunday and had the “Quinoa Porridge” & ” 3 eggs” (I wanted something salty & sweet). You can call me greedy if you want, I don’t care! I’m a foodie. :p Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the Porridge..it was sooooo good! It was my first time there and I will definitely be going back. I came from DE and read about this place on the internet. Next time I will dine in, but the porridge was so good it was gooey, creamy, sweet but not overdone. It was still warm and even though it was in a takeout cup, the presentation was still beautifully arranged with the fresh fruit and mint leaves on top. A healthy yet great comfort food for these winter months or anytime of year!
My husband and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Green Eggs!! We go almost every weekend for breakfast. I can’t wait until Thursdays when the new specials are posted. I have not had a bad meal ever!! I can’t say that about any other restaurant I have been to. Keep up the good work!
Hands down, best bruch ive ever had! Ive lived around the corner for almost a year and just this past weekend went for the first time. I have to apologize. I was absolutely blown away. Fast and friendly service and amazing food. I couldnt ask for anything more.
